Lent Dinner, 7th March 2025, at Cercle Münster

Gutentor Simple Text

In November 2024 the Society cancelled its traditional Michaelmas Dinner because of clashes with other events in Luxembourg’s calendar. Instead it decided to hold a Dinner during the Lent term, and this took place on Friday 7th March, in the elegant surroundings of the Cercle Münster. Just over 30 members and their guests assembled for a most convivial event. First of all, we enjoyed a crémant aperatif in the Library before moving into the dining room.

After Rakesh, who had done a splendid job in organising the evening, welcomed us all, and the pre-prandial Latin grace was pronounced, the diners, arranged around four tables, enjoyed lively conversation during the excellent meal and wines served by the Cercle. After the dessert we raised our glasses in toasts to the Grand-Duke, King Charles III and the University. Martin, our Chairman, then said a few words of thanks to Rakesh, to the Committee for the past year’s work, and to the members for supporting the events of the Society. John as Secretary gave a report on the key events of the past year and looked forward to those planned for 2025. Following the post-prandial grace, coffee was taken back in the Library.
